This included the annual support for the two partner hospitals as well as the water supply for several dispensaries in the region. We also funded the \u201ccommunity medicine\u201d training organized by AMCES, along with a smaller family planning project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the nutrition program with Louvain Cooperation focused on <strong>non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes<\/strong>, we paid the annual contribution of 15,000 euros for this DGD program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also continued the holistic program against <strong>malnutrition among children aged 0 to 5 years<\/strong>, focusing on detection, intensive prevention, and treatment of malnourished children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Foundation\u2019s agriculture program is running at full speed<\/strong> \u2014 on one hand within the framework of the DGD program with Eclosio (75,508 euros), and on the other hand through the completion of community vegetable gardens (29,459 euros) and a poultry project (8,153 euros). All of this emphasizes family entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thanks to the support of Rotary, six water wells were installed in elementary schools<\/strong> to provide drinking water for students and for the surrounding villages. The total budget was $82,000, of which 44,399 euros was spent in 2024. In parallel, a major hygiene awareness campaign was launched in schools, which were also equipped with vegetable gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The final infrastructure works at the ARIZIKI incubation center were completed in 2024<\/strong>. Small local start-ups are now receiving tailored support, and the number of group training sessions is increasing. Including the operating and staffing costs of the incubator, a total of 35,632 euros was spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At the ARIZIKI site, the two innovative projects are now fully operational<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dairy goats for cheese production<\/strong>, with an additional investment of 5,553 euros;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>aquaponics project<\/strong> for the cultivation of vegetables and fish, with 11,054 euros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The expenses in Benin, including depreciation, office maintenance, and staff costs for our local team, amounted to 65,609 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost of shipping a container of medical equipment was 7,217 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The administrative costs in Belgium, amounting to 9,789 euros or 2.3% of the total, are in line with expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/hubi-vinciane.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025_Q4_EvolutieDonaties_v2_en_1200.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hubi-vinciane.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025_Q4_EvolutieDonaties_v2_en_1200.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/hubi-vinciane.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025_Q4_EvolutieDonaties_v2_en_1200-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hubi-vinciane.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025_Q4_EvolutieDonaties_v2_en_1200-768x324.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2024, the Foundation invested the substantial amount of 74,198 euros in the field of healthcare. One-third of our investments went toward combating malnutrition, a core priority within our mission. Additionally, each of the areas of Health, Agriculture, and Entrepreneurship received roughly one-fifth of the total investments. Operating costs for our 21-member team in Benin amounted to just over \u20ac58,000. The cost for our 13 employees in Benin, all-inclusive, was nearly 60,000 euros.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>And with 22,788 euros, management expenses in Belgium in 2022 were higher than usual. The costs for organising two corridas in March and at the end of the year and for celebrating our fortieth anniversary explain this notable increase.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The cost of our team in Benin for salaries, working resources and the cost of the building was 58,435 euros. Logistics costs for maritime transport amounted to 22,010 euros.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The two hospitals received support for 105,455 euros, including construction work on the medical centre in the border village of Kassoula. The new project, Malnutrition in patients with non-communicable diseases, was launched, costing 4,768 euros. The Foundation paid the annual contribution to our partner Louvain Cooperation (15,000 euros) under the new 5-year DGD program.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The own contribution to the DGD multi-year ecological agriculture program to our NGO partner Eclosio amounted to 43,198 euros. The program vegetable gardens in the villages expanded further with 13 new gardens and cost 76,840 euros. 34,271 euros were spent on the malnutrition project in some 60 regional villages. Specifically there were two projects in the elementary school: water and hygiene' (expenditure: 2,856 euros). Summerschool and associated university scholarships cost 10,801 euros in 2022. The Aquaponics project with the University of Parakou cost 10,377 euros.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The new incubation centre continued to take shape. 19,635 euros were spent on the construction works and site equipment. The centre supports new technologies and invested in the Aquaponics project (5,481 euros).<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Another 10,508 euros was spent on an ambulance, a passenger car and sea containers used as storage space on the incubator's site.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Management costs in Belgium are exceptionally higher at \u20ac22,788 in 2022. This is due to several reasons. Inevitably, we incurred some expenses to celebrate the Foundation's 40th anniversary and had expenses for two editions of the Corrida. Of these donations, 96,200 euros came from our partners Materialise, the Gill\u00e8s Foundation, the Paula Vandewatering Fund, and the Elisabeth and Am\u00e9lie Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, and the non-profit organisation Johanna Bode. We received 80,000 euros from the public authorities. A toutes jambes pour le B\u00e9nin' raised 15,000 euros. The remaining 120,300 euros was donated by individuals, companies, and service clubs.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Also, in Benin, our employees generated an income of 16,330 euros. This amount is higher than in 2020 because we hired an additional staff member to handle communication. In 2021, logistics costs amounted to 45,050 euros to ship six materials containers.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The two hospitals each received their annual support of 25,000 euros. Our partner AMCES received funding of 30,489 euros, which was spent on Community Health training.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The construction of the Kassoula medical centre (9,709 euros) was interrupted due to problems with the contractor but was resumed in November 2021. Today, the medical centre is finished. Within the framework of the DGD's multiannual agricultural programme, the contribution to our NGO partner Eclosio amounted to 9,104 euros, and the training farm in Sokounon received 8,493 euros in support. 33,143 euros was spent on the project to combat malnutrition for awareness-raising, detection, and care of malnourished children. Part of this sum (5,391 euros) covered the costs of the Papan\u00e9 hospital for the care of malnourished children. 6,794 euros was spent on education, and 22,072 euros was spent on the Summerschool project and associated scholarships.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>58,942 euros was spent on the hygiene programme, including wells in 6 schools, construction of school gardens, installation of teepee taps, and the \"sanitary towels for schoolgirls\" project. The Aquaponics project with the University of Parakou costs 9,922 euros. The \"community vegetable gardens\" project started in 2021, and the first cost amounted to 8,384 euros.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The money from the legacy was used to buy the 1.6 ha site in Tinre (32,181 euros) and to pay for some of the equipment (9,919 euros). In what has been an exceptionally difficult year, a lot of valuable medical, IT and educational equipment was donated, including three ambulances, two X-ray machines, a mobile clinic in excellent condition, personal computers, laptops, and servers. The transport and logistical costs for shipping all of this amounted to 26,673 euros.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The two hospitals, Saint-Martin in Papan\u00e9 and Saint-Jean-de-Dieu in Boko, invested their annual allocations of 25,000 euros. Saint-Martin also used a transfer from previous years to complete the construction of the surgical block, among other things. Saint-Jean-de-Dieu used it to start the construction of the recovery. The new investment item in the income statement, \"Support to AMCES hospitals\", amounts to 25,328 euros. This item represents support to the AMCES network of hospitals through a training programme and the distribution of a wide range of quality medical equipment. Our two hospitals are also part of the AMCES network.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Construction work on the neglected and dilapidated dispensary in Kassoula made good progress (34,000 euros). The contribution to the multi-annual agricultural programme with Eclosio amounted to 34,770 euros and activities with CAMFP were resumed (9,818 euros). A total of 20,700 euros was spent this year on the banana project in 24 villages. The Sokounon Farm, a partner of the Foundation, was able to build a solid building for its many trainees at a cost of 18,817 euros. The sum of 28,121 was spent on the anti-malnutrition project, which aims to raise awareness and to search for and treat malnourished children. These are administrative costs for publications in the Moniteur, financial costs, stamps, costs for the Newsletter and depreciation. The remaining 295,508 euros was spent in Benin on projects in the fields of health (85,276 euros), malnutrition (47,786 euros), education (39,829 euros) and agriculture (63,860 euros), office operations, staff and local costs (bank) (46,960 euros), logistics (2 containers of medical and other equipment: 11,797 euros).<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The <strong>CIAP <\/strong>(<strong>Centre d'InnovAction Parakou<\/strong>) was completed and solemnly inaugurated in November 2019. On the assets side of our balance sheet, the centre is recorded with an evaluation of 85 490 euros for the land and the building. The Foundation has also purchased a second-hand all-terrain vehicle that is used for larger goods and journeys that cannot be made by moped. In 2019, the building and the car were depreciated on a pro-rata basis: 2 months for the building and 3 months for the car.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>For <strong>the health programme<\/strong>, a total of 20,538 euros was spent on investments in the two partner hospitals in Papan\u00e9 and Boko. The largest amount, 64,738 euros, was spent on hygiene; the construction of 6 wells, 2 latrines and 7 urinals for schools and villages in the region.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The Foundation devoted 47,786 euros to the project to fight <strong>malnutrition <\/strong>in 50 villages in the N'dali region, under the direction of our nutrition specialist, with 12 animators, actively tracking malnourished children and setting up awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><strong>The education programme<\/strong> for schools, the Summerschool programme with scholarships, support for the orphanage and the resumption of training for girls without diplomas at the CAMFP (Centre des Arts et M\u00e9tiers de la Femme de Parakou) took 39,829 euros from the budget.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The Foundation devoted 22,745 euros to <strong>the agricultural program <\/strong>PRAFA (Project for Resilience and Empowerment of Women in Agriculture), a DGD program in collaboration with the NGO Eclosio. The banana project continued and amounted to 16,967 euros this year. The partner farm Centre de Formation et Ferme Sokounon received a total of 7,512 euros in support. The projects undertaken by the Foundation are usually spread over several years, both in terms of income and expenditure. This addition to the reserve also guarantees the continuity of ongoing projects in the near future. Thanks to the annual reservation of reserves, the Foundation's assets are more than sufficient to ensure the continuity of the commitments made. From the European Fund \"Frame voice Report\" the Foundation received \u20ac 13,484 for an awareness campaign in the framework of the Malnutrition Programme with the short films \"Plat du jour\" and a substantial donation of \u20ac 20,000 for the construction of the innovation and training centre in Parakou.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Government revenues reached their highest level ever. This is mainly thanks to the city of Leuven, which in the past year granted both the 2017 amount of \u20ac 17,418 and the 2018 subsidy of \u20ac 21,952 for the project \"Every woman has her own banana tree\".<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Expenses<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Expenditure in Belgium includes postage, costs for official publications, financial costs, mission costs, costs of the quarterly newsletter, acquisition of funds and promotion. The sum of the European Fund \"Frame Voice Report\" was invested in the recording, production and promotion of the Beninese short films \"Plat du Jour\", directed by a team of Belgian professionals. The share of the expenses in Belgium and Benin covered by the Foundation amounted to \u20ac 12,694, while the running of our Beninese headquarters cost \u20ac 11,248, which is more than usual. This extra cost was caused by the extension of our Beninese NGO status - the headquarters agreement. An audit had to be carried out involving several ministries who sent their deputies to participate in the evaluation.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>In February 2019 the extension of the headquarters agreement was confirmed, which allows the Foundation to continue to benefit from certain tax advantages in Benin. For the health programme a total amount of \u20ac 53,193 has been invested in the two partner hospitals in Papan\u00e9 and Boko. A further \u20ac 25,687 has been invested in two complementary projects: the \"Cleanest Hospital\" project in Papan\u00e9 Hospital in collaboration with the firm Materialise and the \"Malnourished Children\" project in both hospitals. The agricultural programme PRAFA (Project for Resilience and Empowerment of Women in Agriculture) with the NGO Eclosio is a DGD programme for which the H&amp;V Foundation foresees an annual amount of \u20ac 30,000.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The agricultural programme and the banana project resulted in an investment of \u20ac 17.984 this year. The educational programme giving support to schools, the membership to the mutual insurance company for each pupil, the hygiene lessons and the programme promoting the transfer of girls to secondary school cost a total amount of \u20ac 28.476. The summer school programme financed and monitored by the company Mat\u00e9rialise makes a scholarship available each year to 3 new students. The amount invested this year was \u20ac 13,179.00. The running costs and investments for the orphanage this year were \u20ac 17,753.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>As a result<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The Foundation closes the financial year with a positive result of \u20ac 25,758. This exceptional reserve is due to a change in the DGD health programme. After a long deliberation the Foundation decided in 2018 not to continue the collaboration with the NGO Memisa for the health programme because of a diverging vision on certain investments.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Following this decision the Foundation will no longer pay the annual amount of \u20ac 75,000 to Memisa, which used to contribute 20% of the co-financing.
