The Innov’Action Centre of Parakou (CIAP)<\/strong>, the headquarters of the Hubi & Vinciane Foundation in Benin, was built in 2019. As the name suggests, this centre is the beating heart of the Foundation, where all our new ideas and projects are conceived and developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building itself is a showcase of eco-friendly and innovative construction techniques. The walls are made of compressed earth bricks, providing excellent thermal insulation\u2014crucial in the hot and humid Beninese climate! This means we don’t even air conditioning, even during the hottest times of the year. We chose traditional woven mats for the ceilings and doors, giving the building a unique and stylish look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIAP is the perfect spot for training sessions, meetings, and brainstorming. It\u2019s also where we hold cooking demonstrations. Visitors can explore several of our projects inside the building and in the surrounding garden, such as an aquaponics system<\/strong> and a P.I.F. installation (Plants from Fragments)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIAP has already welcomed many distinguished guests, including several ambassadors, Herman Van Rompuy<\/strong> (chairman of our advisory board and former president of the European Council), Ismael Bako<\/strong> (Belgian-Beninese basketball star and ambassador of our Foundation), and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Centre D'Innov'Action de Parakou, abbreviated CIAP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CIAP <\/strong>was solemnly inaugurated at the time by a festive ceremony on Thursday October 31, 2019, in the presence of the prefect of Borgou MAMA CISSE Djibril<\/strong>, the departmental directors of the various ministries with which the Foundation maintains relations, the representatives of the 3 communes where the Foundation operates, representatives of the diocese and also an important delegation of Belgium: the Minister of State Dr Moreels <\/strong>who was in surgical mission, two directors of the Foundation, a team which gave a formation in aquaponics, thirteen travellers in immersion and four interns in medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building was designed by the young architectural firm BC Architects<\/strong>. They worked with local materials such as BTC (Compressed Earth Bricks) and with woven bamboo mats on the doors and ceiling. The different spaces are interconnected so that a lot of light and air circulates. The result is absolutely incredible and really deserves a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Eat better, live better<\/strong>\": With the new innovation center, the Hubi & Vinciane Foundation wants to mobilize people - especially women and young people - and resources to make nutritional foods and sustainable products more accessible in the Parakou \/ Benin region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundation wishes to coordinate, facilitate and finance innovative\nfood projects and to raise awareness among the Beninese population about\nsustainable food, in collaboration with local authorities and partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre brings people together to develop these projects, organize\nworkshops and training and facilitate the start-up of small agricultural\nbusinesses by young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre is also intended to be a meeting place where ideas can be\nexchanged. And serves as the workspace for the local team and the different\npartners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young and dynamic team of the Hubi & Vinciane Foundation in\nParakou coordinates the activities and monitors the cooperation with the\ndifferent local partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundation invested 40,000 euros in this new building, partly\nfinanced by the budget of the insurance premium that was then paid to the\nAdriaens and Van Assche families following the plane crash of their children\nHubi and Vinciane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
