A quick summary of this year\u2019s key moments and projects. <\/em><\/strong>
From healthcare to entrepreneurship, we\u2019ve moved mountains.
<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

January<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together against hypertension and diabetes. We start with 36 new support groups and train leaders and coaches to unite in the fight against chronic illnesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

February<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drinkable water. We install wells and water towers at four health centres. In February, we also have the honour and pleasure of introducing our projects to Sandrine Platteau, the Belgian Ambassador to Benin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

March<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start of a new agricultural campaign. Many women can start new agricultural projects thanks to the efforts of 55 AVECs (village savings and loan associations). Our local team also welcomes Annick Chaffa, our new Deputy Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

April<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family planning. We organize natural birth control classes for about a hundred women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

May<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even more drinking water. With support from the Rotary International Global Grant, we install wells at six elementary schools. Finally, clean water for the children!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

June<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green for Good. We distribute 5,000 new trees to jumpstart our reforestation project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

July<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new recovery room. At Boko Hospital, we open a new post-operative ward. A big step toward better medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

August<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowledge to fight malnutrition. We train 150 leaders from crafts associations and cooperatives in combating child malnutrition. They are now passing this knowledge on to their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support for young entrepreneurs. At our incubation centre, the AGRO-START100 project begins for 50 young startups. The future of entrepreneurship starts here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

October<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A memorable moment: Pascale Van Assche, our Managing Director, is knighted by King Philippe into the Order of the Crown. This recognition highlights years of dedication and the Foundation\u2019s structural and sustainable achievements in Benin.
A new partnership with the IFDC (International Fertilizer Development Center). Thanks to their ACMA 3 project, we\u2019re able to give poultry farming a new boost in four municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raising awareness about diabetes and hypertension. We organize a health walk with hundreds of participants and screen over five hundred people for diabetes and hypertension. Together, we\u2019re making the community healthier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

December<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new maternity ward in Boko. We begin construction on a brand-new maternity ward at St. Jean de Boko Hospital. A leap forward for healthcare quality in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
