Forty New Gardens!

In 2024, we made another big step forward. We created forty new gardens, or “jardins de case.”

These gardens allow families to grow their own vegetables and fruits, which are in great shortage in our area of operation. With these gardens, we promote a healthy and balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables.

We identified motivated women, each with a small plot of land of about 25 square meters. First, our agricultural experts taught them which vegetables to grow and the best techniques to use. Then, they received a starter kit with seeds for different types of vegetables. The surplus of their harvest can be sold at the local market, providing additional income for their families.

Our agricultural experts will continue to guide these women until they have fully mastered all the techniques. While the lack of water during the dry season is a challenge, we are confident that these small gardens have a positive impact on the health of the communities.

By creating more gardens, we contribute to food security and improve access to healthy food. At the same time, we enhance the women’s independence and strengthen the resilience of the communities.
