World Breastfeeding Week 2024: A Week of Awareness and Action

From August 1 to 7, the world again paused to recognize the importance of breastfeeding. Across the globe, activities and campaigns were conducted to raise awareness about the significance of breastfeeding.

The coordination of the annually recurring World Breastfeeding Week lies in the hands of WABA, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action.

In Benin, the local team was also active. They organized various events and speeches to highlight the importance of breastfeeding.

Our nutritionists and social workers are engaged year-round in promoting and supporting breastfeeding. In the villages within our operational area, they provide training on breastfeeding, emphasizing that babies should ideally be exclusively breastfed for the first six months. They also teach mothers effective breastfeeding techniques and offer advice on the best nutrition for themselves. This support is crucial for the health of both mother and child.

World Breastfeeding Week 2024 was once again a perfect opportunity to raise local awareness of the importance of breastfeeding. Daabaaru TV produced a report on the event that our local team organized in Parakou.
