Odisee Students on Immersion Program in Benin

In February, thirty students from Odisee travelled to Benin for a two-week immersion program. They worked in health centres in Zongo, Ganou, Tchaourou, and Tchatchou, and also supported several primary schools in the region.

Care for Young and Old

As in previous years, the students actively participated in health screenings for high blood pressure and diabetes among adults, as well as for malnutrition and malaria in children under five. They also assisted with wound care.

In total, more than 500 people benefited directly from their efforts, both in health centres and in schools.

Referral and Medical Follow-Up

People identified as being at higher risk for diabetes or high blood pressure were referred to partner hospitals. There, they received appropriate medical follow-up and, when necessary, medication through our Foundation. This ensured continuous and effective care.

Prevention and Awareness

In addition to consultations, the students organised hygiene and disease-prevention awareness-raising activities within local communities. In this way, they contributed to better long-term health outcomes.

Support Beyond Volunteering

The students did not come empty-handed. In advance, they organised several fundraising activities, including a successful wine sale.

The result: a donation of no less than 5,500 to our Foundation. They also funded the construction of a water well at a primary school and contributed to the hospitalisation and care of two malnourished children, along with many other small initiatives.

An Unforgettable Experience

After two intense and enriching weeks, the students returned home with warm memories. They met inspiring people, worked closely with dedicated local partners, and witnessed firsthand the powerful impact of small-scale projects.

The hospitality, optimism, and resilience of the local communities will stay with them for a long time.
