Fighting together against Corona in Benin

The Coronavirus crisis leaves no one indifferent. In mid-March, a delegation from the Foundation made a working visit and was able to see that even Benin is not spared by this pandemic. The country has been placed in confinement and the population is invited – as in Belgium – to “stay at home” and to strictly respect the necessary hygiene measures.

The Foundation’s local team in Benin is fully prepared for the fight against Covid-19. In this context, it wants to motivate and help the population to deploy our hygiene and handwashing program in the coming weeks and to prepare our hospitals.

We are therefore making a special appeal for donations so that we can, among other things, give this programme an extra boost by :

  • The distribution of chlorine tablets and soap for our 250 tipi-taps, the simple hand washing systems, which are installed in villages and schools.
    cost: 20 euros per pitch
  • The installation of additional tipi-taps in 50 villages.
    cost: 50 euros per system
  • Additional well maintenance.
    cost: 100 euros per well
  • Purchase of protective equipment for our 2 hospitals
    cost: 250 euros per hospital

The solidarity between the people of Benin is great. Schools are closed, but hand washing facilities remain open for the children, as well as for the villagers.

Antoinette, the coordinator of the educational part of our program, sends us the following message today:

Quarantine is not easy, but since it is the price we pay for our lives, it is worth it. It’s not easy at home either, but I pray that these hygiene measures will become a permanent fixture in our schools and families. It will prevent us from getting sick.

You can make your donation for chlorine and soap, extra tipi-taps, well maintenance or protective equipment to account BE14 7865 8929 4683 of the Hubi & Vinciane Foundation with the description “Projet Corona” and your name.

We will send you a tax certificate for any donation of 40 euros or more.

Your support can make all the difference. I thank you for it.
