Kassouala: one year after reopening

Good news from Kassouala! The health centre is running at full capacity one year after its renovation.

Thanks to the support of the Hubi & Vinciane Foundation, the people of Kassouala can now benefit from professional medical care close to home. They no longer have to travel 25 km to Papané hospital, a journey that is not without risk, especially for (very) pregnant women.

The infrastructure has been seriously improved:

  • new staff housing,
  • an information and vaccination area
  • a solar-powered well and reservoir

In January 2024, the centre was able to resume its activities. Today, an average of 20 births take place every month. The women and their families are delighted to be able to give birth to their children in hygienic conditions and under medical supervision.

However, the centre is not yet “finished”.

Several challenges remain: a fence to keep out visitors and unwanted animals, additional solar panels for a more stable power supply, and an ambulance to get emergency cases to specialist hospitals more quickly.

Your support is important. That’s how we can continue to guarantee high-quality, accessible care.
