Two Hundred Farmers Take the Leap to Agroecology

For the 2025 farming season, two hundred farmers in Borgou received 400 kilos of agroecological seeds.

These include green lentils and sesame, donated by our Foundation as part of the ProSAD project (Promotion of Sustainable Food Systems).

These crops are perfect for semi-arid regions. They restore the soil, fix nitrogen, prevent erosion, and boost biodiversity. And that’s not all: they also provide families with a valuable source of plant-based protein.

But this project goes far beyond distributing seeds. It strengthens solidarity among farmers.

Each participant pledges to pass on part of their harvest to two other farmers in the next season. This way, from two hundred pioneers today, we’ll grow to hundreds more tomorrow — all farming with respect for the earth and for our health.

Ces cultures sont idéales pour les zones semi-arides. Elles régénèrent les sols, fixent l’azote, limitent l’érosion et favorisent la biodiversité.

Et ce n’est pas tout : elles constituent aussi pour les familles une précieuse source de protéines végétales.

Mais ce projet va bien au-delà de la distribution de semences. Il renforce la solidarité entre les agriculteurs. Chaque participant s’engage à remettre une partie de sa récolte à deux autres producteurs lors de la prochaine saison.

Ainsi, de deux cents pionniers aujourd’hui, ils seront des centaines demain à pratiquer une agriculture respectueuse de la terre et de notre santé.
